Was the English Revolution a complete revolution or a evolution?

Well a completely different government was established and the previous one slaughtered. I think that counts as a revolution. In order for peace to be restored the puritans were all killed and the old government reestablished. Evolution would imply improvement but really it was more like reinstatement for the kings after the death of Cromwell.
