To atheists and theists, here is a strong statement. What are your views?

‘Falsehood’, for instance, covers self-delusion equally if not more that attempts to deceive others. We have all experienced the effects of megalomaniac political leaders who believe their own lies and draw their populations into war or economic collapse. Even the highest form of truth can turn into falsehoods when they are applied in rigid, one-sided ways and interpreted so literally that they lose their inner meaning. This is how spiritual insights turn into fundamentalist shibboleths and programmes for social reforms become dogmatic and inhumane …‘despicable comments’ intended to discredit or wound others as falsehoods, even if their basis is true. For the value of this truth is undermined by the harm created by its expression and the hurtful intention behind that utterance. In other words… truth includes a form of cosmic libel law in which denunciations leading to mental or physical violence are regarded as falsehoods whether there is a superficial ‘truth’ can be proved or not.
