To get life right? meaning?

"To get life right" is referring to making no mistakes in life, and essentially being perfect. Anyone can realize that that's not possible. In this case, the photos suggest that "Gwen" is not perfect, and has made mistakes in her life that she's not proud of. Instead of being perfect, like her daughter thinks, she's actually very flawed. Which is ok, because that is what makes us human. Hope this clears it up a little bit.
